The Declaration of the Báb, a pivotal event in the Bahá’í Faith, occurred on May 23, 1844, in Shiraz, Persia. Siyyid ʻAlí-Muhammad, a young merchant, declared Himself to be the Báb (“Gate”), a herald of a new age and a messenger of God. This declaration marked the beginning of a transformative period in religious history, challenging the prevailing religious and social norms of the time. The Báb’s teachings emphasized the oneness of God, the equality of all people, and the importance of spiritual development.
